Project's description: The apartment is in the heart of Lviv and is located in an old Austrian secession building that was built in 1906. It used to be home to many members of the city's intelligentsia, including city council members, professors at the university, etc. Until 1939, it was used by a Czechoslovak consulate. Today, it is home to a municipal library and a few apartments. The building itself has aged well and is still in use.
The Replus bureau designed a project for a family with three children who live in a space of 234 square meters. The family has four bedrooms, a living room, a dining room, a kitchen, and four bathrooms.
The architects wanted to use technology in a way that looks like classical architecture. For example, they put air conditioning and ventilation systems in the ceiling, without any visible openings. The air comes in through special channels inside of a drywall construction.
The apartment has two big skylights that let in natural light. One is in the hallway, and the other is in the main bathroom. This makes the apartment have a different atmosphere than if there were no skylights. The bathrooms have different textures and colors because of the different types of materials used in the mosaics, the solid glass surfaces, and the large format tiles.
The gas fireplace and flooring in the living room add warmth and character to the space. Rounded corners and thin lines in the doorways help to emphasize the Replus bureau design.
